wedding shower

over the weekend, my parents (with the aide of my grandma stephanie and grandpa bj) threw a family wedding shower to celebrate T and i's impending nuptials. and it couldn't have been more perfectly timed since we have been working away on all the final details of our big day. so, it was really great to sit back and enjoy the moment!

[how cute is this banner my mom made?]

it was so wonderful to see all the family (including family friends, i.e. family in my book) come out to celebrate with us and hand off their wisdom in this new chapter. and i have to say, some of the most hilarious (and i have a sneaky suspicion is true) advice came from two of the gents - my cousin and a family friend.

[sangrita - pineapple sangria/margarita...dangerously delicious]

and in true tradition, we played a version of the newlywed game. but, in this version, T or myself would answer the question about the other, then our family would chime in on what they thought. it was pretty funny to see where they matched up and where they didn't.

[the cutest of faces]

once the games and gifts were done, my parents instructed the group to head outside for one last surprise...a cupcake pinata for T and i!!

and if you ever wondered how thrilled i'd be at a cupcake-shaped pinata filled with candy...let's just say i had a small child's reaction (in a good way). the best part was that it was filled with confetti which when it burst, T quickly ran over to throw it on me! it was the best surprise and one of my favorite moments from that day.

[i somehow had even more caught in my hair and dress]

[my m.i.l to be]

such an amazing day bringing our families together with great food and great drinks to support T and i. it was beyond amazing and we felt an abundance of love. see you all soon at the wedding!

new to me: movie in the park

i have to say since my last new to me post, i've been trying to find more things to explore that local okc-ites know and love. over the summer, i kept hearing about wednesday movie nights at the gardens. sadly, T and i are your standard monday through friday (8-5) people, so we could never make it up to the city during the middle of the work week. fortunately (for us), one of the movies had to be rescheduled, due to weather, for a friday night! so, T and i packed up a picnic complete with zesty penne pasta, wine, and dessert, to see the lego movie in the park.

[T's favorite building]

[some of our favorite snacks: goldfish, quin caramels, and quin fruit chews]

and while i do love the lego movie, i felt like the bigger treat was to see our city in a new light. it was the perfect way to spend a summery night and an easy highlight of the summer.

embroidered

one of my favorite things to do when i come visit my parents for the weekend is to wander through their garden. i love seeing the progress of the growing herbs and veggies, help harvest when ripe, and trim the buds on the basil plants. funny thing, is that prior to their garden, i never had much interest in the idea but, i've really been looking forward to T and i owing a home where we can grow lots of veggies and herbs ourselves...i've even entertained the idea of having chickens. (eep!)

hurts donut

last sunday, T and i checked out a new donut shop that just opened the day before, hurts donut. and while i am a die-hard fan for daylight donuts, i was curious to see what kind of delicious concoctions they would bring to the table.

[so many delicious decisions]

and i have to say, i am a fan! not only were the staff extremely nice and helpful, the variety of flavor combos were stellar! we picked a variety to sample since we weren't sure what we would like and i would definitely recommend that it's the way to go. our picks were the maple bacon, the cookie monster, chocolate with lucky charms 'smallows, cereal milk and captain crunch, and cereal milk and fruity pebbles.

engaged

over the weekend, T and i had the great pleasure of going to the engagement party of our two friends, laun and andrew. alex and i volunteered to bring a few sweet decor details to add to the celebration. getting to help out was so fun for us and really made us all the more thrilled for our friends in this new chapter.

[the countdown begins!]

[the future mr and mrs silk :)]

not only was the food amazing but, i absolutely loved seeing their families come together to celebrate these two. it was so sweet to watch and even made me a little teary-eyed at times. it's no surprise that there was a lot of love in the house that night.

[we just love our laun]

[sweet words on their engagement]

i cannot be more ecstatic for two people to find each other and brave this beautiful new adventure together. here's to the gorgeous bride and groom to be!
