over the weekend, T and i took a little detour in our camp 'venture to see a near-ish state park, little sahara. i had always been curious to visit but, it is a bit of a drive so, it was put on the back burner. then, realizing how close our campsite was to the park, knew it was a sign we needed to finally check it out.
the park itself is mostly catered to atv's and 4-wheelers however, we were able to find quieter trails to explore with the pups. they'd never seen, let alone played on, sand so, they were extremely curious. it was pretty funny to see how confused they were going up and down the trails. they couldn't quite figure out what was different about the ground, other than they knew it was different.
[sand-filled, disappearing paws]
[always the poser that pup is]
it was strange to see so many red, sandy mounds sandwiched in the middle of prairie grasses, pastures, and mesas. but, at the same time, very beautiful. a memorable end to a very fun couple days indeed.
Hi Guys
ReplyDeleteIn 1958 my father was transferred from Perry OK to Woodward and he drove us to Little Sahara and told us that this was the outskirts of Woodward which was just over the next dune. Needless to say that we were in shock - then when he admitted that he was joking, Woodward appeared to be a haven.. And I met your Mom
Granddad Ron
How funny! In contrast, it would look like Woodward was an oasis!

ReplyDeleteI reviewed my comment and it appears that I was saying that your Mom made Woodward not a haven, that was totally not my intention. She was one of the best things in my life. Excuse the poor wording.
Oh, I didn't read it that way at all! Don't you fret one bit!
