semi-charmed life

with this year's halloween being on a tuesday, T and i thought we'd do something a little different to partake in the fun and got tickets to see third eye blind. that's right, my 90s, choker necklace, butterfly-clips, white-eyeliner, clogs, and tankini-wearing tween-self was screaming with glee at the chance to get to see one of my old faves. plus, with the holiday, there was bound to be some killer costumes which only added to the buzz of the night.

we initially snagged a spot front and center to see the band, but the crowd got a little too close for comfort. so, we hung out on the patio where we still had a killer view, but with a little more breathing room. i'm not one for being packed in too tight when it comes to large crowds at concerts - plus, under the outdoor heaters with a cocktail in hand, and a half moon shining above, it was pretty stellar.

my favorite songs (in general, and heard live) that night: the graduate, motorcycle drive-by, semi-charmed life, jumper, and blinded. side note, one of the amazing things that happened that night was the concert itself. the lead singer (stephan jenkins) lost his voice and nearly had to cancel the concert, but somehow got it back just in the nick of time. and they put on such a great show! definitely a halloween for the books.

jonesin' for st. paul

last friyay, T and i got to check out the newly-ish opened jones assembly to see st. paul and the broken bones. the space is primarily a restaurant and bar, however when they are featuring bands or musical guests, the space becomes an open, inside-outside concert venue. i'd heard great things about the restaurant itself, but i have to say, if you get the chance to go for a concert - do it! between the concert cocktails and food featured, the general atmosphere, and acoustics, it was amazing. 

plus, their walk-up food line for their concert menu was exactly the thing that had been missing from all concerts had in the past. i mean, who could say no to a funnel cake ice cream sandwich?!

needless to say, st. paul and the broken bones put on one dynamite show. not only were we floored by the lead's incredible voice, but their tunes kept us boogieing all night.

it's that time of year again for, you guessed it, norman music festival! a weekend filled with bands, food, shops, and lots and lots of walking. thankfully, days of rain and overcast cleared up just in time for gorgeous skies...it was a great weekend to say the least.

 

 

friday:

 

for the weekend, we played host to our friends tom & leslie, and m&j. since they both live outside of norman, they needed a place to post up, and we were more than happy to have them over. so, before we ventured out for that night's fun, T and i whipped up some of my famous fried chicken and mac 'n cheese. it was too delicious, and the perfect jumping off point for the weekend to come.

breakfast burrito wake-up call with a side of funny stories from the night before. delicious and hilarious. then, back out to the festival we went...

sunday:

 

breakfast at, my personal favorite, the diner, with another recap before our guests headed back home. then, icy-hot for the legs (they were so sore), lotion to soothe my shoulders (they got a little extra rays), and a nap (for obvious reasons).  

 

we had such a great time as always, and loved getting to meet up with so many of our friends over the weekend. until next year norman!

this past weekend, our town played host to the 7th norman music festival. my parents came in town to see what all the excitement was all about, and boy, were they in for a treat!

we had so much fun showing them around to all the bands, food trucks, and festivities up and down main street on saturday. fortunately for us, the weather was kind enough to play along and it made for such a great time (minus the random sun shower)!
