this weekend is going to be a busy one. we are hosting T's 'rents for dinner, working on some house projects, checking out 2nd friday, and trying out a new brownie recipe. not to knock the other things we are doing but, i am super anxious to see if this brownie recipe is the one. i'm always on the hunt for one go to recipe when it comes to certain edibles...and i've been on the hunt for a solid brownie recipe for some time. i'm not the only one who does this right?

ever since i can remember, i've always had a penchant for 70s fashion. everything from candies wedges to fringed-suede totes to flower crowns to bell-bottom jeans. granted, i do love my skinny jeans, ankle boots, and t-shirt dresses but, if i had to pick just one genre...it'd be the 70s every time.

• this season of true detective has been super disappointing but, the fall is totally picking up the slack. i can't wait for next season!
• lately, i've been trying my hand at homemade ice cream flavors. so far, i've nailed mexican vanilla (SO good!), and am still working out the kinks on coffee. 
• if you haven't gotten caught up on silicon valley, clear your schedule and prepare to laugh a lot. tj miller may be my new favorite actor. 
• the den is getting tiled soon!!!

awkward:

• recently, i've been getting back into pilates (loving it) and in the middle of class, i felt a light breeze in between my legs. i was wearing full leggings so, i knew something wasn't right. i look down (as we are doing mid-air splits) and notice one of the pups clawed or chewed a couple of revealing holes...needless to say, i spent the rest of class focusing on not flashing the class my nether regions. 
• not too long ago, i was loading up the dishwasher and solo came up to try and "help". without paying attention to how close he was, i put in a wine glass without checking to see if it was empty. red wine spilled all over his head and snout. his white fur was stained for about a week...whoops!

so, remember my post last friday when i was stoked to take my first sup yoga class? well, unfortunately, it got cancelled as T and i were going to head up because of storms in the area. man, oklahoma weather can be so unpredictable sometimes! needless to say, i was extremely bummed. so, to cheer me up, T and i ventured up to the city for a little food truck action, and to introduce me to shimmers.

shimmers, for those who don't know (including myself), is a well-known local favorite for any snow cone lovers. personally, i've never been one for snow cones, until this one. the ice is so finely shaved, and with the combination of their amazing syrups...i could not get enough! plus, i loved the switch of using gummy bears instead of sour straws (so good!).

then, we made our way to bleugarten for some delicious food, drinks, and to see our friend jimmy (who lives in the area).

between the great crowd, watching the most intense game of jenga i've ever seen, meeting a family of great danes, and the dynamite company, it was just the pick me up i needed. thanks again bleugarten for another great night in the books!

slaughter's hall

stumbling onto unfamiliar areas in okc while trying out a new restaurant makes for a sweet sunday fun day. it's currently known as the deep deuce district but, historically, holds a great deal of significance as to how the city was shaped, as well as influence jazz music. 

one of the few original buildings left is slaughter's building currently housing slaughter's hall; an east-coast style deli that combines savory sandwiches (and mac 'n cheese) with local craft brews. and while, beer isn't my cup of tea, their mac 'n cheese and brunch bites most definitely are.

funny story, i've had this menswear dress shirt and d'orsay flats for some time now. but, until i put this outfit together one morning for work, i'd never noticed that they matched. i picked them both up separately but, you'd think i got them with the other in mind. weird, right? 

tonight, T and i are set to try a SUP (stand up paddle board) yoga class on the lake...well, as long as the predicted storm doesn't actually do too much. but, how cool is that? i've been dying to try it out! just wish me luck i don't fall in the water :)
