a beautiful weekend celebrating two sweethearts tying the knot is a weekend well spent in my book. and what a weekend it was...there was dancing, great storytelling, big laughs, and tender tears shed. it was everything i could wish for these two and then some. not surprisingly, i snapped photos along the way and i hope you enjoy them.

the day before

with family and friends in tow, we helped get the event space set up before the rehearsal. this of course led to a few dance breaks while taking in the city views. i mean, it can't be all work right?

next up, a delicious rehearsal dinner to follow where we practically ate our weight in pizza. plus, the killer cocktails didn't hurt either ;)

the big day

wedding jitters, and a beautiful bride. tears flowed, and bubbly was popped. floral crowns, and hairspray scattered. it was hours before the ceremony and we were counting down like it was new years eve.

and then, just like that, they were officially husband and wife...aka time to party!

hey hey! sorry for the blogging gap everyone. there wasn't a reason for it, other than that the week simply got away from me. between balancing our normal to-do's in the middle of spring wedding season, and work being so busy, i completely forgot to blog. by time i realized what happened, it was friday and our friends were getting hitched the next day. i guess it's true what they say...time flies when you're having fun!

the present

i'm sure i'm not alone in this, but i often have a hard time being in the present. more often than not, i am thinking about what i need to remember to do, what the next day's (or weekend's) plans are, and even what i need to do the next moment. in an effort to try to be more in the here and right now, here's what's happening (thursday after work)...

the windows and back patio door are open, letting the cool spring breeze in while making the tree branches sway just a little. i'm currently looking at our table plants inch further and further up from their planter while typing on my laptop. the evening sun is streaming through the windows and has softened the butter i have out waiting to be mixed into cookies. and my phone is playing my favorite brazilian music mix. outside, T is playing fetch with the pups, and boba has a lot to say about it. this moment feels so precious and so fleeting. even though part of me wants it to linger just a little longer, i know i need to just relax and enjoy. 

i take a sip of my margarita, and toast to this moment for while it is short, it was so very dear to me. have a great weekend, and don't forget to savor the present.

the bachelorette

hey hey everyone! last weekend i had the pleasure of celebrating my friend jana's upcoming nuptials with a weekend away in the woods. her bachelorette had everything she loves -- hiking, cocktails, the beauty of the great outdoors, girl time, dance parties, and lots of laughing. once we all met up, we popped the champagne and started toasting to our favorite gal.

first the lingerie shower, a round of drunk jenga, and then we were on our way to the tavern for the night...

there were lots of drinks, a few awkward cowboy proposals, and some great dance moves...all in all, a memorable night.

the next day, some of the girls were feeling understandably sick so we had a slower start to the day. once the whole gang felt up to it, we got dressed and headed out for our day hike.

we trekked out to a gorgeous spot to catch some rays and a cat nap (or two). i was so happy to see our favorite rest spot was equally gorgeous in springtime as it was last winter covered in snow.

once we had our fill of the gorgeous views, we headed back to snack, rest, and have a little hair of the dog. 

then, we cheered on the sooners who sadly lost, but we love them anyway. thankfully, we were able to ease our woes with some freshly-made mexican stew, courtesy of one of the girls. loss or not, that stew was some kind of wonderful.

then, a little sunset walk with the bride to enjoy the views.

that night we kept it low-key with a mini slumber party, champs, and pitch perfect. 

then it was up and at 'em the next morning to pack up and head back home...feeling ready for a shower, another nap, and to see my sweet boys. happy bachelorette weekend sweet one!
