striped maxi

being a native okie, there is nothing quite like seeing that big open sky. breathing in that fresh, clean air, and taking in the gorgeous sun rays until the day's end. not to mention the sunsets. if you haven't seen an okie sunset, there is truly nothing like it. stunning colors of bright fiery reds, oranges, and yellows with shades of purple and pink sprinkled in. to any non-okie, it's miles of nothingness but to me, miles of open beautiful air. when you drive out to the more remote areas, the only accents are field of wheat, corn, and trees. just like it should be.

lately

[breaking the rules]

this past week+ has been filled with some great moments and some not-so-great moments. great: we helped l&a move into their new place, we celebrated T's sis' baby on the way, and we started in on a big wedding to-do. not-so-great: solo and i got sick. and while we didn't get the same illness, it didn't make it that much easier to care for him while trying to get better. fortunately, the pup and i are on the mend, so here's to a week of getting back into the swing of things.

sea legs

last weekend, after a last minute change-up in plans, we drove out to our friend's house in newcastle to enjoy a day of pool lounging and sun soaking. it was sublime, and just what i needed...although, i unfortunately got sick the next day (unrelated). but lately, it's been one trip after another, which is awesome but, can be a little exhausting. so it was great to just hang with no agenda. we brought the pups along for the day too since they love a good run and swim.

[boba loved racing larry to the edge of the pool]

the pups couldn't have been happier. total, there were seven dogs of all sizes and ages, and our babes loved it. the was quite the fiesta of marking things, rolling around, pooping, sniffing butts, and swimming.

[boba trying to coax little chuck into swimming; it was chuck's first time]

[chuck was a little scared]

[bruce - my favorite pug. he let all the young pups run around while he kept cool in the shade]

once we swam around for a bit, the guys of course turned to showing off their dives, cannonballs, and belly flops. isn't it funny how quick it turns to that? and if they can splash the girls laying out on their towels...mission complete!

[boba got so excited at this, he jumped in with too]

[right before the guys splashed us...again. oh brother!]

such a great day to welcome the incoming summer months and the best pup sleep aid ever. seriously, it took two days for them to get back up to their normal speed!

the webblorette, part two

after the first full day out and about in austin, we were (not surprisingly) exhausted! so, we spent the day lounging by the rooftop pool at the hotel. it was just the thing to help ease into the day's activities. plus, i love being in water...especially if tasty drinks are involved :)

[festive-themed koozies the girls made for the weekend]

between the fun poolside dj, the yummy food, and some great cocktails, we were feeling refreshed and recharged. so, we headed back up to our room, got dressed, and headed out for dinner al fresco.

from there, we took a pedicab to a funky bar recommended to us with some great people watching, a funny bruce lee cut-out, and cool atmosphere. but, we didn't stay long, since we had been told about an 80's dance party held just down the street! (how could you pass that up?!)

the playlist was so fun and it was awesome to belt out to some of my favorites like madonna's 'like a prayer', simple minds' 'don't you (forget about me)', and george michael's 'freedom'

[our crazy awesome pedicab ride, what a ride that was!]

the next morning, we packed up the room and said adios to the hotel before having one last brunch together. it felt bittersweet since we had such a dynamite weekend but, i think we were all missing our beds by then...plus, i was missing my boys something fierce :)

[i love these two]

[best huevos rancheros i've had in a long, long time]

as we drove back home, i was filled with so much awe and love from how much work my girls went through to make such a perfect bachelorette weekend. i couldn't have asked, let alone wanted, for more. they really are so amazingly thoughtful and sweet, i truly love these girls with all my heart.
